Compassionate Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Fort Lauderdale

Restoring Balance Through Structured Healing

Intro

What Is PHP Treatment?

Many often wonder what PHP is or how it differs from inpatient rehab. The PHP level of care is the next step below residential treatment and continues to provide intensive support within the continuum of care for those struggling with addiction. PHP is the most intensive form of outpatient treatment available.[1]

Inpatient Rehabilitation

Clients live 24-hours / 7 days per week in a clinical setting.

PHP (Day/Night)

Clients attend a full day of therapy (typically for 5-6 hours per day, 5-7 days per week) but will have a safe environment to return to each evening.

IOP

Clients attend therapy for shorter time frames (typically for 3-5 hours per day, 3-5 days per week).

PHP treatment requires full-time recovery work, ideal for those who have recently completed medical detoxification and are physically stable but continue to require substantial emotional and psychological support to prevent relapse. During PHP, you will spend part of your day engaged in all three components (therapy sessions, medical monitoring, wellness classes) with the opportunity to practice your recovery at home and in your daily lives.

The Clinical Curriculum

A Typical Day in Day Treatment

Structure counteracts the chaos that enables addiction. Our Day/Night program has a schedule that challenges you to maximize your healing time, re-engaging you with daily recovery work continuously. Every day will have its differences, but all days are designed with the basis of treating your mind, body, and spirit.

Your day will begin with a community meeting or mindfulness session to set your intention. After that, you will work with your primary clinician in small groups.
Process Groups: You will learn about the emotional roots of your substance use disorder through clinician-led groups with other community members in a safe, supportive environment.
Psychoeducation: Knowledge about the biology of your addiction will help support your recovery through education on brain chemistry, triggers, and the science of preventing relapse.[2]

Recovery takes proper fueling. Eating together is a therapeutic process that builds connections with others that have often been lost during your active addiction.

Agape takes an Integrative Medicine approach to treatment, blending evidence-based and holistic therapies to help build a well-rounded foundation for recovery. You will experience healing of mind and spirit through hands-on therapies, together with your talk therapy.
Trauma Resolution: Specialized sessions may include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) or Rapid Resolution Therapy to help process your underlying trauma.
Holistic Modalities: You will help self-soothe and regulate your nervous system through biofeedback therapy, yoga, and breath work.
Creative Expression: Art therapy and music therapy provide you with non-verbal outlets to express many of your difficult-to-communicate emotions that arise during traditional counseling.

Who Is a Good Fit for PHP?

Not everyone needs the intensity of a partial hospitalization program. However, for those who require a higher level of care, or have a long history of chronic relapse, the PHP level of care may make the difference between short-term improvement and long-term abstinence from substance use.[3]
You may be a good candidate for our Day/Night Treatment Program if:

You are transitioning from detoxification: Though your body is free of substance use, you are not prepared to handle daily stressors on your own without the support of treatment.
You have a dual diagnosis: You have co-occurring medical needs (i.e., severe anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, etc.), which would benefit from daily psychiatric monitoring.
You have experienced multiple relapses: You have received lower levels of care (i.e., IOP or Outpatient Services) previously and been unable to maintain your sobriety.
You lack a support system: If you live in an unstable or triggering environment, then the structure of PHP, paired with sober living, will provide a safe environment for you.
