Intro

Substance-Specific Treatment Programs

Addiction can impact an individual’s life in a variety of ways, depending on the drug or substance used to develop their addiction. The physical and psychological dependence on drugs, along with differing withdrawal symptoms and treatment approaches, can differ greatly from one substance to another.
To address the different issues of substance use in a satisfactory manner, we provide specialized treatment programs for each substance being abused. Our experienced, knowledgeable staff understands that each substance abuse problem presents its own unique challenges and provides people struggling with addiction with an individualized method that addresses both their physical and psychological needs to achieve long-lasting recovery.

Alcohol

Alcohol is one of the most widely used and socially accepted substances, but it can also be highly addictive. Treatment involves addressing both the physical addiction and the emotional reasons behind dependency. Programs at Agape include a full range of services: medically assisted programs, therapy for underlying issues, and specialized relapse prevention.

Cocaine

Over time, cocaine use can create strong psychological dependence and increase the risk of anxiety, paranoia, and heart problems. Regular use may also impact relationships, work performance, and financial stability, making professional treatment an important step toward recovery. The goal is to manage the physical and emotional need for the drug. Using a methodical process, we work to gradually reduce cravings and help regain normal dopamine function through therapy, community support, and addressing the root causes of stimulant abuse.

Meth

Methamphetamine, commonly known as meth, is a highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system. It produces a surge of energy and euphoria, but repeated use can quickly lead to dependence. Because of the extreme damage caused by meth, this specialized program addresses physical issues, cognitive and psychological impairments, and the addiction itself. This includes medical services, nutritional support, and cognitive rehabilitation.

Prescription Drugs

Whether for pain, anxiety, or sleep, prescription use can quickly spiral. Treatment includes tapering the medication, medically-assisted options as needed, and therapy to identify what prompted the use—helping patients find healthier ways to manage pain and insomnia.

Opioids

Use of opioids often starts legitimately as a means of treating severe pain, but addiction can sometimes follow. We offer a specialized program for opioid addiction. It utilizes medically-assisted treatment when needed, comprehensive therapy, and non-opioid options for managing chronic pain.

Vicodin

Vicodin is a prescription pain medication. While it can be effective for short-term pain relief, it also carries a risk of dependence, especially when taken for longer than prescribed or in higher doses. This program treats both the physical and psychological components of addiction. We also focus on alternative methods for managing the chronic pain that often leads to Vicodin use.

Fentanyl

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. While it is sometimes prescribed to treat severe pain, illicitly manufactured fentanyl is now a major driver of overdose deaths in the United States. Treatment covers medically-assisted treatment, overdose prevention training (including naloxone), and therapy to address the severe addiction created by this potent substance.

Kratom

In lower doses, kratom may act as a stimulant, while higher doses can produce sedative, opioid-like effects. Over time, individuals may develop tolerance and experience withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, muscle aches, or insomnia when they stop. Despite being seen as “natural,” kratom creates real dependence. Our treatment includes withdrawal support, therapeutic services, and education on alternative ways to manage the pain and anxiety that kratom users are often trying to mask.

Heroin

Heroin is an illegal opioid made from morphine, a natural substance derived from the opium poppy plant. It produces a rapid sense of euphoria and relaxation, but it also carries a high risk of addiction and overdose. Treatment involves withdrawal management, assisted treatment with FDA-approved medications when needed, and therapeutic interventions to address associated trauma or mental health disorders.

Adderall

Adderall is a prescription stimulant commonly used to treat ADHD. When taken as directed, it can help improve focus and attention. Often improperly used as a performance enhancer or weight loss aid, Adderall addiction is treated through behavioral therapy, appropriate ADHD management where necessary, nutritional rehabilitation, and new methods for managing focus without stimulants.

Inhalants

Inhalants include household products such as aerosols, solvents, and gases that are misused by breathing in their chemical vapors. Repeated misuse may lead to dependence and long-term cognitive issues. Because of the risk of sudden death and organ damage, early intervention and medical evaluation are important.

Club Drugs

Club drugs refer to substances often used in social or party settings. These drugs can alter mood, perception, and energy levels, but they also carry serious risks. Repeated use may lead to psychological dependence, memory problems, mood disturbances, or dangerous behaviors. For drugs like MDMA, GHB, and Ketamine, treatment includes therapy for the social and psychological factors of the “scene,” and helps build social networks outside of drug use.

Benzodiazepines

Benzodiazepines, often called “benzos,” include medications such as Xanax, Valium, and Ativan. While effective when used as directed, long-term use or misuse can lead to physical dependence. Stopping suddenly can cause serious withdrawal symptoms, including seizures in some cases. Treatment typically involves a carefully supervised taper along with therapy to address underlying anxiety or mental health concerns.

Marijuana

Marijuana, also known as cannabis, is widely used and increasingly legalized, but it can still lead to cannabis use disorder in some individuals. To address the psychological dependence of marijuana use disorder, we use behavioral support and therapy for co-occurring disorders. This helps patients learn alternative methods of coping with stress and anxiety.

Sleeping Pills

Sleeping pills, including medications like Ambien and other sedatives, are often prescribed to treat insomnia. While helpful in the short term, they can become habit-forming when used regularly. Treatment focuses on safely tapering off medications like Ambien or Lunesta and includes cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia, developing better sleep hygiene, and finding non-addictive ways to manage sleep.

Mental Health Treatment Programs

Substance use and mental health issues frequently develop together and need to be addressed simultaneously for long-term recovery. Agape Treatment Center provides integrated mental health treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and other issues that may contribute to addiction or make recovery more difficult. We use a dual diagnosis model to give you a continuum of care that addresses both your mental health and substance use needs together.
